A lawsuit or litigation through the court system is not always the best way to resolve a dispute. Increasingly, alternative forms of dispute resolution are employed to assist parties settle the issues between them. Alternative methods include, for example, facilitation, arbitration and mediation. Parties may desire private mediation or private arbitration if they wish to maintain privacy, avoid costly trial expense or more quickly resolve a dispute. Also some parties recognize that litigation produces winners and losers, not always an optimal situation if the parties need to maintain a working relationship. Sometimes judges order the parties to attempt resolution of their lawsuit by alternative dispute resolution methods. Court rules regarding the use of alternative dispute resolution are in a state of change, and good attorneys are working hard to learn and adapt to the changes. Jeffery Cojocar was proactive about getting trained in alternative dispute resolution methods so he could help clients. Pursuant to the Michigan Court Rules, he became a certified mediator and case evaluator immediately after the Rules were changed and advanced training became not only available, but mandatory. This corporation specializes in, and does nothing more than, handling and administering private facilitative mediations and arbitrations for counsel and litigants throughout the state. All types of domestic and civil matters are handled, based upon his prior experience and the formal training he has received. Mr. Cojocar is presently on court-approved and suggested lists of available arbitrators/ mediators throughout the tri-county area. Through this new venture, litigants will hopefully be able to have their matter properly handled and resolved in a much less expensive, and more expeditious manner, to the satisfaction of themselves, as well as their attorneys. Given the fact that Mr. Cojocar¿s office handles all types of domestic and civil cases, Alternatives to Trial, Inc. is able to utilize this background in being well versed in handling virtually any type of matter that he may be hired to arbitrate and/or mediate.
